Thank you for visiting our Detachment’s Website! If you are new to the Marine Corps League or interested in what our organization is about, here is a snapshot as it is reported on the Marine Corps League National site:  National MCL website

  • League National site: Mission Statement

Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines, past and present, FMF Corpsmen, and FMF Navy Chaplains  and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.

WELCOME

Welcome to the home of the United States Marine Corps League, Detachment #878. We are Marines, Navy FMF Corpsman, Navy Chaplains and Associates from the “Greater Treasure Valley”.

The Marine Corps League perpetuates the traditions and spirit of ALL Marines, Navy FMF Corpsmen, who proudly wear or who have worn the eagle, globe and anchor.

Today, the League boasts a membership of about 60,000 men and women, officer and enlisted, active duty, Reserve Marines, honorably discharged Marine Veterans, qualified Navy FMF Corpsmen, and Navy Chaplains.

If you have any questions, you may reach us by viewing our Website.”

MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDANT – Detachment #878

We invite all Marines, Navy FMF Corpsmen, and Navy Chaplains in the area to join us at our monthly meetings, both for camaraderie and for the benefit of our community and our veterans. Please take time to check out some of our recent activities.

•  Each year we have actively supported the annual Toys for Tots campaign coordinated by 4th Tank Battalion, Marine Reserve Center at Gowen Field.
•  In past years we have supported the Marine Corps Ball organized by the Marine Reserve Center. This year, because the Reserve Center is unable to organize a ball, Detachment #878 has decided to be the force behind our 246th Marine Corps Birthday Ball scheduled for November 6, 2021.
•  We actively support the Young Marines program, the Eagle Scout program, and we provide two (2) $1,000.00 scholarships each year to High School Seniors in the Treasure Valley area. The recipients are required to be a Young Marine or related to a Detachment member.
•  Because of the pandemic we have been unable to support the two annual BBQ’s for the residents at the VA Veterans Home in Boise. We will be in full force come the first weekend of October 2021.
•  Annually we provide monetary grants of $500 each year to the Roy Weaver Scholarship fund for a total of $1,000.
