Delta Dental, will expire December 31, 2018

The existing TRICARE Retiree Dental Plan, which is currently provided through Delta Dental, will expire December 31, 2018. At the briefing OPM officials explained that the new plan will be offered and administered through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).

All TRICARE retirees and their families are eligible for both the dental insurance and the vision coverage. Active duty military families are only eligible for the vision coverage. The FEDVIP dental program of offerings will replace the existing TRICARE Retiree Dental Plan, which is currently provided through Delta Dental.

The retiree dental plan and the new addition of a vision plan will allow for beneficiaries to choose from among several dental and vision carriers who provide a variety of benefit options. Beneficiaries must choose a plan during TRICARE’s open season (November 12, 2018 to December 10, 2018). Beneficiaries need to understand there is no automatic transition for those currently enrolled in the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program. Changes can only occur during open season and life changing events.

For more details on the new dental and vision plans, go to February 2, 2018 NewsBytes. Beneficiaries are encouraged to start getting information and pre-enrollment communications through the website  set up just for this program.

The first opportunity to enroll in FEDVIP will be during the next Federal Benefits Open Season, which runs from November 12 through December 10, 2018, with coverage effective January 1, 2019. There is NO other time or way to signup.

Application of recipient of Purple Heart:   Roll Of Honor Enrollment Application, Print off and send in.

Dear Idaho Veteran,

As you may know, the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in New Windsor, New York.  Our 7,500-foot facility includes exhibits, artifacts, and Purple Heart recipient stories, which offer visitors an incredible journey through our country’s military history.

Our primary function, however, is to appropriately recognize and honor those men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart. The Purple Heart is one of the most recognized and respected medals awarded to members of the U.S. armed forces who were killed or wounded by enemy action, and The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is the nation’s sole repository dedicated to the collection and preservation of the stories of human sacrifice and the cost of freedom.

Through enrollment in our Roll of Honor, Purple Heart recipients’ profiles and stories are preserved on our electronic database, which is accessible to the public in our main gallery and on our website (  Because there is no comprehensive list of recipients upon which to draw, our database represents only a fraction of the estimated 1.8 million people who have received the Purple Heart.

We must, therefore, rely on friends, family, and the recipients themselves to share their information with us in order to properly honor them for their sacrifices.  I am writing to you to request your support and assistance in honoring Purple Heart recipients through enrollment in the Roll of Honor database.  You can help by sharing our information with those veterans and families who you service and encouraging them to share their stories with us. Enrollment is free.

Purple Heart recipients simply need to complete the enclosed enrollment form and send it to the Hall of Honor along with copies of the supporting documents.  Please do not hesitate to contact us at 845-561-1765 if you would like additional information or have any questions.  Many thanks in advance for your time and assistance.  We truly appreciate your support in helping us to preserve the legacy of those who sacrificed so much for our country.Sincerely,
Anita Pidala

Mission ahead: Hire 5,000 veterans to be store leaders at Walgreens

With Veterans Day coming up this Sunday, Walgreens is looking to do more for our nation’s veterans beyond no-cost flu shots for eligible veterans and our annual Veterans Day discount.

Over a five-year period, we’re aiming to hire 5,000 veterans into store leadership roles as shift leads and assistant manager trainees, with the goal of these team members eventually becoming store managers. New hires will participate in a program to develop the leadership and decision-making skills necessary to manage a store – things like leading a staff of more than 20, overseeing store sales and merchandising, and giving Walgreens customers the high-quality care they expect from us. Meanwhile, these candidates will be able to receive a tuition discount while taking online courses toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree through Southern New Hampshire University. These opportunities are the result of the HERO program (Walgreens Helping Veterans with Educational and Retail Opportunities), which was created this year to help improve veterans’ job and career prospects.

And store-level leadership roles may be just the beginning. “From there, veterans may have an opportunity to advance into other field management and corporate leadership positions at Walgreens,” says Jeff Koziel, senior vice president of Operations.
